Titus is passionate about creating projects that advocate for and showcase black artists. Seeing the urgent need for more representation, he began to use his voice to carve out space and empower others. By exploring film and music intricately woven together, Titus brings his artistic vision to reimagine classical music. His most acclaimed project, a timely rendition of ‘Lift Every Voice’ became a viral internet sensation with over 1 million views and his project “We Are Nashville” won the 2021 Midsouth Regional Emmy®.
Titus decided to create the Lift Every Voice and Sing project to inspire young black musicians who don't often see representation of themselves in orchestral music. Instead, we were force mourn the senseless loss of Black lives fighting for justice. This recording is for every protester, every freedom fighter, everyone who needs to be lifted up, and to honor George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the numerous others whose lives have been stolen by police violence. ‘We are Nashville’ is the 2021 Midsouth Regional Emmy® winning collaboration between Titus Underwood and Bryson Finney. It is a showcase of the incredibly diverse and musically gifted city of Nashville, highlighting current and upcoming artists to illustrate the unique spirit of the city.
